ABOUT

John Pares - Osteopath (M.Ost Osteopathic Medicine)

Being a keen sports person, John pursued a career in Osteopathy after seeing the benefits of treatment both after rugby injuries and as preventative care.

John graduated from Plymouth Marjon University with a Masters degree in Osteopathy. He has since been working in Bristol, before returning to his home town Sidmouth, to set up East Devon Osteopaths.

He likes to take a structural and biomechanical approach to treatment, with a special interest in athletes and sporting injuries. John has a passion for getting patients back doing what they love pain free, through using a variety of techniques and providing personalised exercises adapted to the patient’s needs.

Out of clinic, John likes to stay active, with a passion for endurance events, playing golf or swimming in the sea. He is currently targeting a new Personal Best in the Manchester Marathon in April.

What to expect?

Initially we will take a detailed case history, trying to assess your background to create the whole picture of your pain. From here, we will perform an evidence based examination to see how you are moving and what structures may be causing your issue. Then together, we will make a plan leading to the best outcome for you. Resulting in what is the best course of treatment for you, along with exercises tailored to you. Here we can discuss any follow up appointments that may be required to get you back to the best version of yourself.

Treatment may involve a variety of techniques, including: joint mobilisation and manipulation, soft tissue work, dry needling, strengthening exercises and lifestyle advice. Some minor discomfort can be felt for 24-48 hours post treatment. But, if you have any questions then please do not hesitate to get in touch.

Your Osteopath will need to properly assess you, therefore please wear appropriate, comfortable clothing to your appointment. You are welcome to come with a chaperone if needed.
